Ode to a Beloved Mother

by: Mr. George Acosta

She came
As simple as the morning dew
One ordinary day a hundred and one years ago.

She came
Alone with courage in her heart
And a mind as beautiful as a work of art.

She came
Like a refreshing rain of spring
Easing away the pain that troubles bring.

She gave
With no gain in mind but a desire
That no one be left behind.

Now she leaves
As silently as she came
And those she touched will never be the same.

Sleep thee well my friend
Sleep thee well my queen
Sleep thee well my beloved mother.

The poem was composed by Mr. George Acosta (son-in-law of Mrs. Victorina Garcia) and was recited by Mrs. Guina Calimbas on June 13, 2015 during the Literary and Cultural Night of the Grand Alumni Homecoming in celebration of the 75th Founding Anniversary of Guinayangan Academy
